TO SOOTHE THE SOUL

Aria Miller was born in 2245 to a family of mundanes. She is a first generation telepath- and a strong one at that- ranking P-10 within the Corps. Her family was easily persuaded to send her to the Psi-Corps headquarters in Geneva at age 13 when her telepathy manifested, as they did not want her to be rogue and in danger, imprisoned or put on drugs for the rest of her life. It was a hard desicison to let their daughter go, but the Corps was better than any alternatives, and they tried to stay in contact with her throughout her time as a student there.

During Aria's time as a student, the Corps had encouraged their younger students to engage in extra-corricular activities to boost morale and keep loyalty to the Corps (Happy kids means happy "Mother and Father"). She took advantage of this to continue persuing her musical talent of playing the violin, which she had started long before the Corps. Aria's music helps quiet her mind, and the effect music has on her is inhanced by her telepathic abilities, claiming the music is "a part of her". She also took part in gymnastics to stay active. All of the extra-corriculars were corps-monitored and very limited, consisting of few sports and arts options, and telepathy training always took presidence over anything else. Most of Aria's music studies were done by herself in moments of calm.

Upon enrollment, Aria was assigned a mentor, that being Malcolm Ramseyer. Malcolm was a great role model and friend to her, the two becoming close and familial during their time with each other. Due to not being around her parents anymore, and Malcolm encouraging her to think critically in regards to authority, Malcolm became a very trusted adult figure in her life. Joking with Malcolm that him having no hobbies was "boring", she encouraged him to indulge in his talent of writing. The two would combine their talents and write songs together- mostly about the Corps and the personal feelings of being restricted within the system. Indulging in their talents that were not telepathy strengthened their bond, and, as the Corps predicted, strengthened her telepathic abilties. She excelled both in telepathy and academically, and graduated among the top of her class.

Aria was 20 when the war started, and she had not quite yet gotten into any jobs post graduation. She had plans of doing high-ranking commercial work, with plans to travel to Babylon 5 in search of work there as well. This did not work out due to the Telepath War and growing tensions on Babylon 5. When the Corps headquarters was bombed, Aria was able to escape with 2 year old Steven Ramseyer. Her last conversation with Malcolm was him telling her to leave and not to look back days earlier, and to take care of his son. They sang a final song together as they held each other and cried, knowing of what would lie ahead. Malcolm would be killed in the attacks on the headquarters, leaving Aria and orphaned Steven to deal with what had become of the Psi Corps. She wanted nothing to do with the Psionic Monitoring Commission and fled back to France to be with her family. Before this, she took care of Steven and helped him get adopted by a family with siblings that were also orphaned following the war, and fled the Psi Corps. Upon returning home, Aria entered a relationship with another telepath, Camilla Wyder, who was a blip that happened to go unnoticed by the Corps.

Aria remained in close contact with Steven for his entire life. She had most of Malcolm's things, including his journals, that she was told to keep for Steven. Aria was the only one who knew Malcolm, so she would tell Steven about what he was like- hoping to give him some hope that his father did not die in vain and that this is what he would have wanted for him. Aria was not aware of Malcolm's relationship with Bester, due to her being a young teenager at the time, and was not able to answer questions about who Steven's "mother" was. Aria was made aware of this when Steven found out himself- to which she would reply that she had no idea. She ended up having a family of her own, all telepaths, free from any kind of opressive establishment.
